Spring 2024 Micro-Grant Awards

Brilliance Labs is proud to announce the recipients of our fifth round of micro-grant awards. These micro-grants carry the legacy of Central Bible Church by funding churches and organizations that are making a difference in our city, especially among those under-resourced or otherwise neglected by majority culture churches and ministries.

House of Healing

House of Healing is a new church plant located in the NE part of Portland. They are actively seeking to reach their community, specifically the under-churched and un-churched. While the congregation is predominantly made up of African-American people, the church is open and engaging towards people of all ethnic backgrounds. One of the ways they are working to reach and serve their community is by growing their children’s ministry; namely, to get Bibles into the hands of young people and provide various Sunday school classes.

Brilliance Labs awarded House of Healing a $5,000 grant to fund a youth retreat in which they will seek to better invest into the young people the Lord is sending to their church.

One HOPE Fellowship

One Hope Fellowship is a multi-ethnic church plant in NE Portland that recently merged with an existing congregation. Pastor Ricardo Barber describes One HOPE as a place where people belong, and share talents and experiences - where differences in ethnicities, age, or personality style, enhance rather than divide.
The vision of One HOPE Fellowship is to:

  • Make multi-ethnic Gospel-Centered disciples

  • Create multi-ethnic Gospel-Centered communities

  • Build multi-ethnic Gospel-Centered church plants

Brilliance Labs awarded One HOPE a $5,500 grant to fund evangelism training for their church, evangelistic efforts in their neighborhood, and an Easter outreach for their community.

Pamoja House

The mission of Pamoja House is to bring lasting hope to refugees and immigrants in Southwest Portland. This multicultural organization serving the diverse immigrant community of Southwest Portland through education, counseling, and vocational services. They specialize in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL), driver’s education, tutoring, and citizenship classes. In addition to meeting the fundamental needs, Pamoja prides itself in community-building and providing personal support to students. They are able to focus on students’ individual needs by maintaining a high level of personal interaction, small class sizes, and caring volunteer staff.

Brilliance Labs awarded Pamoja House a $7,000 grant for an interim director position who will run their women’s and children’s programs.

Mosaix PDX

Mosaix PDX seeks to promote unity within and among the churches of Jesus Christ across boundaries of race, class, culture, age, and gender. They are a "city cohort" affiliated with Mosaix Global Network, an international multiethnic church network founded in 2004. They seek to develop greater unity among different churches in the greater Portland area, committed to address injustice and other barriers that can otherwise be divisive.

Brilliance Labs awarded Mosaix PDX a TBD grant to run a design lab for their leadership team to launch a new diaspora ministry coalition in the Portland metro area.

Faithful Friends

Faithful Friends matches volunteer individuals, couples, or families as mentors to kids ages 6 through 9. The mentor/mentee matches meet 3-4 times each month and commit to at least one year. They serve children in need and who are generally under-served or missed altogether and they do this by working with both church and broader community partners.

Brilliance Labs awarded Faithful Friends a $5,000 grant to help them launch a paid internship program to grow their various relationships and reach in the Portland area.
