MICROGRANTS
FUNDING FOR NON-PROFITS, CHURCHES, & COMMUNITY PROJECTS
Are you an entrepreneur with a vision to make a difference in your community? We fund churches, organizations, and grassroots community projects in and around the city of Portland.
About the Grant
Funding Amount
Our microgrants tend to be around $5,000 but may be more or less depending on the specific project. Past recipients are eligible to receive repeat funding.
Deadline
We run two microgrant programs a year. The Fall deadline for all application materials is October 31st and the Spring deadline is April 24th.
Qualifications
Recipients must either be a registered 501c3 non-profit, have non-profit fiscal sponsorship, or represent a grassroots community project that can demonstrate neighborhood impact without individual financial gain. Business leaders seeking funding should fill out a pitch form instead. We may still be able to help you find funding.
An additional note about the types of organizations that receive grants: Portland is a city that’s known for having a large population of homeless people. This comes with its own set of unique challenges, and in turn, there are a lot of wonderful organizations and ministries that do good work to seek to serve and care for these people. However, at Brilliance Labs, when awarding grants to organizations that serve homeless people, we are specifically looking for those who focus on long-term housing, care, and ongoing discipleship.
What We Look For
ENTREPRENEURSHIP
While we fund existing churches and organizations, we prioritize funding new ministry ventures and entrepreneurs exploring new solutions to old problems.
NEGLECTED SPACES
We fund projects that will have an impact among demonstrably under-resourced communities, whether socially, economically, or spiritually.
FAITH + CULTURE
For us, faith and culture go hand-in-hand and we believe that both are necessary for human flourishing. We prioritize projects that are faith-driven and culture-affirming.
OUR VALUES
We seek to embody these values and look for them in those we fund:
Partnership not Paternalism
Collaboration not Control
Solidarity not Charity
Servanthood not Self-Promotion
Dignity not Dependency
