Fall 2024 Micro-Grant Awards

Brilliance Labs is proud to announce the recipients of our fifth round of micro-grant awards. These micro-grants carry the legacy of Central Bible Church by funding churches and organizations that are making a difference in our city, especially among those under-resourced or otherwise neglected by majority culture churches and ministries.

The Language Hospitality Project

Following Jesus’ invitation to love our neighbor, The Language Hospitality Project brings together TESOL workers and church leaders to guide congregations to respond to needs with Biblical hospitality as they learn to speak the language of invitation, welcome, and belonging. Through this interactive online course and related educational resources, they’re working toward cultivating language hospitality. TLHP approaches language diversity as a bridge instead of a barrier. Their aim is to help congregations consider principles and develop practices of hospitality to effectively welcome  linguistically diverse people from their local community.

Brilliance Labs awarded The Language Hospitality Project a $4,000 grant to fund the production of video content to share more about their work and further their reach.

Love INC of Clackamas County

Love INC of Clackamas County exists to see Christian churches united in purpose and fully engaged in actively living out their faith by lovingly serving people in need in their communities. Love In the Name of Christ (Love INC) exists to mobilize local churches to transform lives and communities In the Name of Christ.

Brilliance Labs awarded Love INC a $3,600 grant to fund ‘The Healthy Habits Program;’ core classes to offer training and mentorship to underserved communities in Clackamas County.

Refugee Care Collective

Refugee Care Collective serves and empowers diverse populations of refugees as they rebuild their lives in Oregon. Since 2015, their work has impacted thousands of families who were forced to flee their home countries due to war, violence, or persecution. There is a crisis in sustainability within refugee care work, and RCC believes the development of quality resources to empower and train local communities is a needed long-term solution to address the current challenges.

Brilliance Labs awarded Refugee Care Collective a $6,000 grant to fund the launch of resources and training for churches serving re-settled families.

Sanctuary Inn

The mission of Sanctuary Inn is to equip, refresh, and restore global workers for kingdom purposes. Missionaries are leaving the field every day for preventable reasons; financial stress, language difficulty, marriage issues, or burnout. Sanctuary Inn is dedicated to coming alongside each of their guests and seeking to listen to their story and suggest some resources or skills that can help them in their place of service. Sanctuary Inn is unique in that we have the capacity for both short-term and long-term stays.

Brilliance Labs awarded Sanctuary Inn a $6,000 grant to be used for creating an office space on their property in order to better utilize the space with which they serve missionary families.

Sacred Spaces PDX

Sacred Spaces PDX seeks to preserve, revitalize, and expand sacred spaces for the good of the local church in the greater Portland/Vancouver metro area. They’re propelled by the vision that our neighborhoods will remain anchored by sacred spaces that cultivate transcendent worship, serve their communities, and provide gathering places for all people. SSP understands that “The Church” is not a building and does not require a building. However, they also believe that church building and places of worship are powerful tools when leveraged for Kingdom impact. Too many churches are at risk of being sold and developed by aging congregations who are unsure how to preserve their footprint in their neighborhoods and SSP desires to change that.

Brilliance Labs awarded Sacred Spaces PDX a $5,000 grant to fund networking opportunities for expanding their reach, marketing efforts, and establishing their 501c3 status.

We Belong PDX

We Belong PDX is supporting kids' mental health through year-round programs that give children access to trusted relationships and strategies to live healthier. Their core values are: belonging, faithfulness, healing, and fruitfulness. Most of the kids that are served through these programs are BIPOC kids from the greater Portland area.

Brilliance Labs awarded We Belong PDX a $6,000 grant for funding key aspects of programming at their Centennial neighborhood site.

The Contingent

The Contingent is a nonprofit organization focused on empowering leaders and enhancing community engagement to confront significant social injustices and vulnerabilities throughout the nation. Their framework underscores the importance of collaboration and collective responsibility as crucial elements for facilitating transformative change. Every Child PDX, a program within The Contingent, specifically addresses the needs of children and families affected by the foster care system in the Portland metropolitan area. This initiative aims to improve placement stability and enhance overall outcomes for children involved with child welfare services.

Brilliance Labs awarded The Contingent a $4,000 grant to fund their mobilization efforts for Every Child PDX.
